The Story
Daniel, one of the chief administrators of the Persian kingdom, was the victim of a conspiracy. His enemies persuaded King Darius to sign a decree forbidding prayer to any god or man except the king himself for 30 days.
Daniel, faithful to God, continued to pray three times a day with his windows open towards Jerusalem. His enemies denounced him, and the king, though reluctant, was compelled to enforce his own decree. Daniel was thrown into the den of lions.
God sent His angel to shut the mouths of the lions, and Daniel spent the night unharmed. In the morning, the king found him alive and ordered that his accusers be thrown into the den, where they were immediately devoured.
