The Parting of the Red Sea

The Miracle of Liberation

God parts the Red Sea so the people of Israel can escape the Egyptian army.

The Story

Pursued by Pharaoh's army, the Israelites found themselves trapped between the Red Sea and the Egyptian war chariots. Moses stretched his staff over the sea, and God sent a strong east wind that divided the waters, creating a dry path through the middle of the sea.

The people of Israel crossed on dry ground, with walls of water on their right and on their left. When the Egyptians tried to follow, God caused the waters to return, drowning Pharaoh's entire army.

This miracle demonstrated God's absolute power over nature and His faithfulness in delivering His people. It is one of the most iconic events of the Old Testament.
